  • A warming dilemma.

    My friend insists on bringing five coats to New York.  She wants different ones for each pictures.  Apparently we can't take the coat off and put it back on, but whatever.  She did the same thing in Europe too, and if I recall correctly, she wore the same coat almost the entire time.

    If TSA searches her, I'm making a run for it.

    I am stuck on what coats to bring.  Here are my options, ladies.

    I took these pics all by myself, too.  I put my camera on it's side in the bathroom, set the timer, and scooted back.  I could see the live view in the reflection in the mirror, so I actually got semi decent shots.  The hubs was looking at me funny as I kept scurrying back and forth from the bathroom.

    Option 1:  A dark blue pea coat I got at the Gap last year.  I love that I can move in it, but in the warmth department, it doesn't hold up as well.

    Option 2:  A black coat that goes down past my behind and is extremely extremely warm.  It also has a hood.  Also purchased at Gap years ago and I don't think I've ever worn it but just couldn't bring myself to give it away.

    Option 3:  A cream colored longer length coat that I got at Costco probably going on five years ago.  It's also very warm, and almost elegant looking.  I just worry I'll look like a blimp if photographed in this coat.

    Side note:  I bought options 2 and 3 while living in LA.  I don't recall there ever being a winter even remotely close enough to needing an actual coat.  What was I thinking?!

    If I had room, I'd be tempted to bring them all, but I think I'm only going to bring two.  Which coats would you wear?

    #1 and #3 are my picks!

    i am for #2.  I like that it has some length, that it's warm, and that there's a hood!  I like #3 too for it's longer length.  But #2 seems more versatile as well.  have fun in NY, but it'll be brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

    Gotta go with the cream.  "Elegant" is the perfect word. Meesa like.

    I'm loving #3. I think you're photographing beautifully in it! I would pick #2 as my 2nd option - I agree with spamandrice that because it's longer, has a hood, and is black - it's not only functional but versatile

    I like #1 and #3.  Definitely bring #3 because #1 and #2 might look like the same jacket from far away in pics.  #3 doesn't make you look blimpy at all!

    #2 AND #3.  (Are you planning on only taking one jacket, or do you mind taking two?)  Jacket #1 is short, so unless you're wearing something long underneath, you'll feel drafty on your lower all day.  I hate feeling the cold draft on my lower back like that.  #2 is perfect b/c is long & has a hood, but I think #3 is so pretty for walking around New York in!  You could wear #2 during the day, and #3 for the evening events.

    Everyone likes three, so that's definitely coming.  I think 2 is making an appearance as well.  I might actually have room in my suitcase!

    @konayipark - I was planning on taking 2, which my husband thinks is nuts, but 3 seems like a total "nice place" jacket and 2 is a "regular" jacket.

    @emileee - Thanks!

    @Daydreamer33 - Thanks!  If I was halfway as committed as you to your workouts, I'd have better results.

    @maulindy - Elegance is practically required in NYC if I'm going to channel my inner Charlotte from sex and the city.

    @spamandrice - BRRR indeed, but it's been cold here in NorCal!  We turned on the heat last night!

    @StaceRT - 3 is definitely coming!
